    The reported milestone

Strohm announced completion of a qualification and field-trial program with Petrobras and Shell for thermoplastic composite flowlines. Its original announcement is dated September 22. Offshore trials took place in July 2026, and the company says an operating pilot in a Brazilian pre-salt field is planned for early 2027.

    Why follow it

The supplier positions the technology as a way to address corrosion-related integrity challenges in demanding offshore conditions. Material choice is an important part of that story, alongside the conditions under which a product has been tested.

    The next evidence to watch

An operator reviewing an emerging technology can ask how closely the qualification conditions resemble the intended application and what the operating pilot is expected to establish. The planned pilot offers an opportunity to learn more about performance in service after the completed qualification and field trials.

Keep the dates and claims in view

This is a background technology item published before the September 24–30 window. The source is the supplier’s release, and the independent qualification documents were not reviewed. A planned pilot does not establish long-term operating performance.
