Before planning well work, confirm the well record
CalGEM's Well Finder is a useful reference when assembling the information for a service conversation.
ThermalTech editorial ·

A practical reference
CalGEM's Well Finder supports searches by API well number, location, field name and township/range/section. It links to individual well information and interfaces with the WellSTAR database, with nightly updates described by CalGEM. The agency identifies the current application version as a January 2026 update. This is background guidance, not a change announced this week.
Build a clear job handoff
As an editorial planning suggestion, assemble the well identifier, location, the question you want answered and the relevant records you already hold before requesting a scope discussion. Note any disagreement between the public record and the operator's documents so the responsible team can resolve it. That gives everyone a shared starting point for the conversation.
Understand the limits
CalGEM describes the data as informational and supplied by third parties, with no guarantee of completeness or accuracy. A public map does not establish a site's present operating condition, access arrangements or authorization for proposed work. Confirm those details through the responsible operator and appropriate project process.
Connect records to the question
A service request is easier to assess when it states the desired answer rather than naming a tool alone. ThermalTech's team can discuss temperature surveys, cement bond logging or other verified services once the well and the requested evaluation are clear.
Evidence and limitations
No individual well record was audited for this article. The January application update is outside the current news window and is explicitly labeled background.
